Series: ...will be televised: Video Documents From Asia

A series of five one-hour programs compiled from five regions in Asia, coordinated and produced by Shu Lea Cheang. As camcorders become more widely distributed in Asia, video makers have become active protagonists in the current social and political changes that are taking place in the region. This series is an archive of that movement: these tapes document, validate and above all participate in the struggles in Asia for press freedom and democracy. With this video collection, we challenge the "one-way" flow of U.S. media and the export of "the American Way" to the other side of the world; we provide another side of the communication highway; video from people's movements to the multinational media headquarters, from Asia to the States, from the developing countries to the developed metropolis.
