Hands Up, Don't Shoot - Lippman with the MSO Trio

12/07/2014 Dave_lippman_j

On the second night of protests against the killing of Eric Garner's killer's indictment, Dave Lippman went from the streets to Caffe Vivaldi to sit in with the fabulous Marques/Stinson/O'Farrill Trio, plus Livio Almeida. Here are images of that night, along with my lyrical effort on the subject of persistent deadly control of Blacks in the United States of Jim Crow 2.0.

Pianist Albert Marques, from Barcelona, also plays with the Eco-Music Big Band and recently joined us on the street to play piano under readings of Palestinian poetry at our Human Rights on the sidewalk festival outside Symphony Space, where Idan Raichel was purveying his cross-cultural blend of Israeli colonialist whitewash music.
